Fellow Trollers,

 

     Our last meeting was held at the Watkins Glen Elks Club on January 10th, with 17 members in attendance.  Our treasurer reported a balance of $7,648.19.  This balance comes out within 30-40 dollars of last years balance even after a sizable donation to the Red Cross and our help with the stream stabilization project in Millport this year.  Thanks go to all our members who sell the raffle tickets and help at our Outdoor Show to raise funds to pay for our banquet, our banquet door prizes, our tournament payouts, and our year end point fund awards at the banquet.  Great participation from our members makes it possible.  Thanks!!

    Our banquet is all set and will be at The Decoy, on Route 14 just north of Watkins, on February 3rd at 6:00.  Dinner will be served at 7:00.  Tom Randall will have raffle tickets to hand out for the National Lake Trout Derby.  Tom has asked for a volunteer to take his place in handing out and collecting the money and unsold tickets next year.  If anyone is interested let Tom know.  Our Fishing Tackle and Outdoor Show is slated for March 25th at the Watkins Glen Community Center.  Mike Burt sent out mailings to all last year’s vendors and we expect to have great response to fill the Community Center.  Setup will be at 6:00am.  Vendors will be allowed in at 7:00 am and the show will run 9:00 am – 2:00 pm.  We have an offer from Mickey Clark to do a seminar in the afternoon to try to boost the attendance in the last hours of the show.  We are also waiting to hear if there was any response from the DEC about giving a presentation.

     Lastly, thanks to Tom and Mickey, we have an offer to receive Honey Bee and Optimizer lures from Tamiron Lure Company at 10% off for members and the club will receive 5% back of member’s purchases as well.  You might want to wait until next month so I can make sure we as a club are all registered with them.  The website is http://www.tamiron.com.  Also if anyone wishes to receive this newsletter by email just let me know at our next meeting on February 14th at the Watkins Glen Elks Club at 7:30 pm.  You get it as soon as it is written that way; snail mail takes me a few more days to get out.  We should have our rules printed out by our next couple of meetings also.  See you at the Banquet!!
